It doesn't hurt to smile

I'm currently in southern France, lovely, cold, new (to me), intriguing.  Say what you will about the French, they're an interesting lot.  Of course, that comment goes equally well when you replace 'the French' with 'the Spanish', 'the Turks', 'the Swiss' etc.  An observation on the morning ritual of cafe (au lait sil vous plait), jamon et frommage et pain.  It's not about the food.  It's about the attitude.  I've not seen so many sour faces in my life - two people face off on the table next to mine.  Both have their arms crossed, their faces crossed - and they're ostensibly on holiday!  Come on!  it's a new day, you're alive - go ahead, smile!!!
